About Little Britches
Little Britches was opened by Dana and Vance Stallings in December of 1996 to provide high-quality child care in Jacksonville. Dana previously operated a home-based child care in the Arlington area for over four years. Vance stumbled across the current location of Little Britches, a vacant building, and together they opened the building as a full-service child care center. Dana and Vance’s two children Haley and Emily both attended Little Britches; the girls are now in high school.
Dana was the center director until 2002; while acting as the director, Dana also taught child care related classes at the local community college. Sandy was hired as a teacher for the three-year old class and Sandy was asked to become the assistant director in 1998.
During that time, Vance was one of the bus drivers and the fix-it/maintenance person. While acting as the fix-it/maintenance person, Vance also went to law school at the University of Florida and after graduation, practiced law for a few years. Even though Dana turned over the daily operations in 2002, she did continue to oversee the general operations while she was not in-charge.
In 2005, Dana and Vance decided to open a confectionary store and opened Kilwins in the St. Johns Town Center. Dana and Vance worked together at Kilwins until 2009. At that time, Vance decided to become the director of Little Britches to improve the quality of care.
